We love this Patrick Kelly vintage dress from his Fall/Winter 1988 collection. The dress is a perfect example of camp fashion with its faux sweetheart shaped "corset" in blue as part of the design. Patrick Kelly was born in Mississippi and was inspired by the women in his life in the South. He was the first American and the first African American to be admitted to the Chambre syndicale du prêt-à-porter des couturiers et des créateurs de mode in France. His designs always had a joyful element of surprise that are becoming more and more collectible. We love his iconic designs and are always sad that he only had a few collections due to his untimely death in 1990 at the age of 35.
